Miss Jen's Joy School
Thanks to Jennifer Gibbons for being the first to respond to my request for information for this blog!
This is a photo of one of Jen's classes last year. During unit 10, while talking about belonging to Joy School, they had spirit week where they had a "Wear School Colors Day", "Crazy Hat Day", and "Crazy Hair Day" (pictured). What a fun idea! The girl with the green hair is Jen's little sweetie.
According to Jen:
Please email me your Joy School thoughts, ideas and photos and I'll get them posted! You can email me at saren@joyschoolco.com. You can also add your comments right here on the blog if you like.
According to Jen:
"I find parent communication to be key. I send a daily update telling parents the letter and number of the day, what sight words we are on, and what Joy School CD to listen to. I end my note with the 'Funny of the Day,' since there is always something said or done to make me laugh. Today it was 'my dad is real shiney.' I love working with kids. They make me laugh every day. "
"My favorite thing about running a Joy School is that I can run a business out of my home that my kids can participate in. I like to have "jobs" for my own kids. My 10-year-old helps me with my books. I feel like they are learning about running a business with me. They have pride in it too. They tell their friends about their "job" and about the cute kids that come to our house :)."
Please email me your Joy School thoughts, ideas and photos and I'll get them posted! You can email me at saren@joyschoolco.com. You can also add your comments right here on the blog if you like.

Welcome to our New Blog!
Finally, we've got a place to showcase and share what Joy School-based preschools (otherwise knows as commercial or for-profit Joy Schools) are doing!
Currently, there are official Joy Schools in operation in places you might expect (Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California, Florida, etc.) and also in places you might not expect (the Philippines and the Ukraine). Our Joy School directors/operators are talented and committed mothers and grandmothers who've decided to use their abilities to provide exciting and meaningful programs for the children and families in their communities. The Joy School Company provides instructions, lesson plans and materials, but Joy School couldn't exist without these wonderful women who give so much of themselves to make a difference in the lives of so many sweet children.
Every couple of weeks, this blog will offer new information on what Joy Schools are doing and we invite all Joy School operators to send in photos and tips and ideas that we can share via this blog. Plus we invite you to comment on the ideas and photos posted here so we can all learn from and uplift each other.
Viva Joy School!
Here are some fun pictures from different Joy Schools last year:
